Hello again!!!
I got out of hospital one hour ago!!! YIPPEE! The last ten days have been a nightmare I hope never to experience again. Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and wishes, they've made a real difference to how I feel.
Quick summary of what happened. Leg swollen and red, see my GP who says allergic reaction take antihistamines. Its not better the next day so my boss sent me to Casualty, they diagnose an infection and give me penicilin and fluclox, still not better the next day so I went back and the doctor told me that I looked too well to be ill!!! The next night I phoned the emergency doctor as the redness and swelling were spreading, admitted to hospital. The next few days passed in a drug induced blur, I was poked, prodded, x-rayed etc. After 5 days it was still getting worse and my heart was racing, fever etc. The doctors kept saying the antibiotics needed time to work, I was asking for them to change them but they wouldn't. UNTIL the next morning when I woke up covered in rash, and my whole body was swollen. I am now allergic to penicillin. They phoned micro and found out that I should have been getting clindamycin and vancomycin. The next day the swelling was down and I was back to my usual self. A few days on and I still have a big blister on my shin and my leg swells up if I stand on it but I feel much better.
I am shocked at the NHS. I was in a room where the windows didn't open, the food was so incredibly unhealthy (DH was a star bringing me parcels of fresh fruit and veggies and pasta). I felt like I was in prison.
On the knitting front I have lots of socks to show you. I finished the ones in Regia Bamboo, a pair of ones my own design in so german sock wool and one of a pair in gorgeous purple BFL. I'll take some pictures later. I was hoping to work on something else but it was hard to direct DH to the correct wool, pattern and needles. I had the sock needles with me, can knit socks from memory and finding sock wool at home was the easy for DH.
I also read a book called Nagasaki 1945. It sounds depressing, but it was one of the best non fiction books I've read in ages.

I'm going to spend a few days convalescing so I'm not sure how near I'll be to computers etc. but will be back properly soon.

So good to hear you are released from prison! What a nightmare you have been through.
I have a little get well thing on my kitchen table for you, I'll send it tomorrow so hopefully you'll have it in time for the weekend.
Good to have you back.

Don't worry about the computer...just take time to get yourself well! We'll wait.

Hi
I cant remember how I ended up on your blog, possibly via Ravelry and the fact you had purple in your name?
anyway, just wanted to say I had cellulitis about 12 years ago, in my arm, and i had a simillar experience of incompetent doctors etc.
I have only been seriously knitting for 8 months and have yet to make a pair of socks, it seems scary and there are too many ways to do it.
can you recommend genuinely easy way to make?
Take care
